NSBE 2012 Joint Career Fair Discussion
On Saturday April 3, 2010, during the 36th Annual Convention, the NSBE
National Executive Board (NEB) presented a proposal before the
national body to partner with the Society of Women Engineers (SWE),
Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE), and the American
Indian Science and Engineering Society (AISES) to host Joint Career
Fair/Convention starting in Fall 2012 with subsequent Joint
Conventions scheduled 2-3 years thereafter, with each member society
responsible for organizing it’s own convention. This endeavor would
replace NSBE’s traditional Annual Convention held each spring. Revenue
from the joint career fair would be distributed in pre-determined
percentages to the four member organizations. Such a change would
require a major shift in the way the society operates and will have
wide-ranging effects on all members.
The details of this proposal are provided in the links below and are
also assessable on the NSBE-AE Website
(http://www.nsbe-ae.org/ae/index.php?option=com_ckforms&view=ckforms&id=1&Itemid=82).
Members are asked to please review these documents.

for members to express their opinions regarding the Joint Career
Fair/Convention proposal. No registration is required. The NSBE
Alumni Executive Board (AEB) request that AE members please provide
feedback regarding the proposal NLT April 10th (We apologize in
advance for the constrained timeline). Your collective input will be
consolidated into a report that will be submitted to the National
Executive Board prior to their vote on the proposal which is scheduled
for April 16th.
The AEB will host a National Village Call to discuss the Joint Career
Fair/Convention proposal on Tuesday, April 13th at 9PM (EST), lead by
the National Alumni Chair Brian Jackson. Because of the limited number
of available lines AE members are asked to please RSVP for the call
through their respective AE Chapter President. Chapter Presidents are
in turn asked to submit that RSVP list to their Regional AE Chair.
Please note that in some cases priority will be given to those in
leadership. At-large members are asked to RSVP directly through their
Regional Leadership.
